Reflectors (also called cat’s eyes) are located at the rear of the vehicle. They reflect the light from other vehicles and improve visibility. Check that they are present, clean and undamaged.

Dipped beam, high beam, parking lights, daytime running lights, indicators, brake light (hand brake and foot brake separately), tail light, number plate light, reflectors
Check brake fluid, check brake discs, hand brake lever pressure, foot brake lever pressure, brake fluid, push the motorcycle and check the front brake, push the motorcycle and check the rear brake
Open the filler cap or check the sight glass. The motorcycle must be upright. Sight glass – Fluid level must be between the marks. Dipstick – wipe the dipstick, insert it again, then pull it out again and check whether the oil level is between the marks; if not, top up oil according to the owner’s manual
Tension (see the rear swingarm), lubrication (check with your finger), wear (check how far the chain can still be tightened), check sprockets
Check the level in the reservoir; the motorcycle must be upright.
Check for oil leaks at the seals; when pressing down it must move smoothly and evenly.
Tread depth (TWI indicator in the tread), tyre pressure (shown on the sticker on the swingarm, damage, foreign objects, whether the tyre is approved according to the registration document
Let the engine run, activate the emergency stop; the engine must switch off – done. WARNING: don’t do this for fun – only for the test. The emergency stop is harmful to the ignition system.
You ride into the slalom at a steady approx. 30 km/h. You take the turns by pushing the bike. Ride straight towards the
the first cone and don’t start offset.
Errors:
no observation before setting off, speed too low,
rolling off the throttle in the slalom, not pushing the bike, skipping a gate, knocking over cones.
You accelerate to 50 km/h and ride straight. Brief observation shortly before. Then pull the clutch and roll past the first cone
on the right. Then you push the bike left with a counter-steering impulse so you pass the second cone on the left
. Afterwards return to the original line. When the bike is upright again, you can
brake.
Errors:
no observation before setting off, starting speed too low, not pushing the bike, knocking over cones, not returning to the original line.
You accelerate to 50 km/h; your line is slightly beside the first cone. About 10 m before it, pull the clutch
and brake briefly and firmly with both brakes so the forks dive. At the first cone, release both brakes,
keep the clutch pulled, then swerve with a counter-steering impulse (approx. 30–40 km/h). Then return to the original
line and only then let the clutch out again.
Errors:
no observation before setting off, starting speed too low, not pushing the bike, knocking over cones, not returning to the original line, not using both brakes (except with integral braking).
You accelerate to 50 km/h and ride straight. Brief observation shortly before, then close the throttle, pull the clutch and immediately
brake hard with both brakes to a stop. Keep the motorcycle straight, look forward
(with ABS do not pump).
Errors:
no observation before setting off, speed too low, not using both brakes
(except with integral braking), braking too timidly, looking down, bike not straight/stable, not releasing a locked wheel.
You ride a total of 4 circles in 2nd gear. The first circle is for stabilising and is approx. 10 m in diameter. The lean angle
must be visible. Pay attention to where you look (towards the centre of the circle). Then you exit the circle in the direction of travel. On the
practice area the circle is ridden in both directions.
Errors:
no observation before setting off,
wobbling, deviating from the circle shape, no lean angle visible.
You ride the long slalom at a constant approx. 30 km/h. There are 4 gates with 9 m spacing and 2 gates with 7 m spacing. Before the start
you do observation. The speed stays steady throughout; in the last (tighter) gates you have to
push more.
Errors:
no observation before setting off, changing speed, riding around a cone.
You ride straight for about 15–25 m at walking pace (about 5 km/h on the speedometer). Your gaze is straight ahead.
Maintain the speed smoothly with the coordination of throttle, clutch and brake.
Errors:
no observation when setting off, too fast, putting a foot down, drifting off the line.
You ride the slalom at walking pace (about 5 km/h on the speedometer). Your gaze is always into the gap
for the next pass, not at the cone. Maintain the speed smoothly with the coordination of throttle, clutch and
brake.
Errors: no observation when setting off, too fast, putting a foot down, knocking over cones, wrong gaze (looking at the cone),
drifting off the line.
You set off, stop and set off again. Before the first start you do observation. The feet must
either be put down twice on the left and then twice on the right (or vice versa). The first start does not yet count
as a stop: You set off, stop (e.g. left foot), set off again, stop left again, set off, stop right,
set off, stop right again. Then you continue – exercise finished.
Errors:
no observation,
wrong foot sequence (not 2× left + 2× right), stopping too fast/untidy, insecure footing, pushing the motorcycle.
