TEST ANXIETY

Test anxiety?
Relaxed for your test.

Feeling nervous before your test is normal – almost everyone does. What matters is that you know what to expect. Here you can find out what examiners really expect and what will help you on test day.

No tricks, no traps

The test is not an interrogation. The examiner wants to see that you can drive safely – nothing more.

  • Examiners do not set trapsYou drive a completely normal route with completely normal situations.
  • Driving safely and calmly is what mattersWhat matters is a driving style that makes everyone in the car feel safe.
  • Mistakes are normalA small mistake does not mean you have failed. Keep driving, do not dwell on it.

Stay calm – how to prepare

  • Well rested and on timeGo to bed early and allow enough time for the journey.
  • Don't tell everyoneThe fewer people know about your appointment, the less pressure you'll feel.
  • Come aloneWithout company, you can stay focused on yourself and don't have to prove anything to anyone.
  • Take time offIf possible, don't schedule anything else important for that day.

What really helps

  • Drive like you do in your lessonsCalmly, confidently and just as you practised most recently.
  • No sedativesThey make you slower and less attentive – exactly the opposite of what you need.
  • Drink and eat normallyOn an empty stomach, your concentration quickly weakens.
  • Coffee only if you're used to itDon't try anything new on the day of the test.

Don't expect perfection

Nobody expects you to drive flawlessly. Stick to the driving style from your last lessons – it got you to the test.

Those who drive overly cautiously make new mistakes as a result: too slowly, too hesitantly, too late. Confidence comes with experience. Most people only become really good drivers after many thousands of kilometres driven.

Tell your driving instructor

If the test is causing you a lot of stress, talk to your driving instructor about it. We'll then plan more calmly, practise the test situation beforehand and only register you when you feel confident.

Well prepared for the test.
